Warehouse Modeling Intensive
Dimensional sketches, slowly changing dimensions, and staging discipline for messy feeds.
Overview
Modeling is where silent bugs hide. You sketch bus matrices, debate grain, and implement two SCD strategies with dbt in a shared repo. We simulate late-arriving facts and broken keys so you feel the failure modes before they hit production.
What is included
- Bus matrix workshops with domain-specific examples
- SCD1 vs SCD2 decision tree with compliance notes
- dbt project structure that scales to three contributors
- Data tests that fail loudly in CI
- Office hours with a senior instructor on call
- Documentation blocks future analysts can extend
- Capstone peer review with employer partnerships lead
Outcomes
- Publish a small warehouse slice with tests and docs
- Defend grain choices in a cross-functional review
- Anticipate late data with explicit staging rules

Participant questions
Is prior SQL required?
You should complete our SQL track or prove equivalent—modeling without query fluency frustrates everyone.
What hardware should I bring?
A laptop with 16GB RAM is strongly recommended; cloud credits are provided but local runs help during outages.
Are refunds different for intensive formats?
Yes—see Returns & Refunds for cohort-based cancellation windows tied to physical seat allocation.
Cohort notes
“Warehouse Modeling Intensive forced me to document assumptions—our staging incidents dropped afterward.”
“CI tests from week five caught a duplicate supplier key before launch.”
